Cisco+ Configure

Cisco+ configure was a product that allowed Cisco to sell directly to consumers instead of the standard selling process through partners. Cisco+ was a SaaS offering that created a secure network for both in house and remote workers.

The Problem

What is Cisco

Cisco is one of the world's largest and most successful networking companies with 41% of the global enterprise network infrastructure market share in 2022. Cisco offers an industry-leading portfolio of technology innovations. With networking, security, collaboration, cloud management, and more, we help to securely connect industries and communities.

What is Cisco+

Cisco primarily sells using partners and has been trying to figure out a product or offer that they could sell directly to their customers. Targeting small to mid-sized companies, Cisco+ was introduced. Cisco+ allowed customers to securely give users access to applications and resources hosted anywhere, from any location, at any time. The goal was to simplify your IT management with a single subscription for software and hardware.

The Challenge

The challenge of this product was creating a configure experience that allowed our users to feel confident and provided enough information to them without overwhelming them, allowing them to make the right configuration for their needs.

The Approach

To start we had to understand what information was required to build out a configuration. With the BRD and PRD we were able to determine what needed to be captured and what the available options were to the customer which informed the architecture.

Once we understood what was needed, we began to design the experience. As the lead designer I worked with the team to ensure that the designs were consistent and aligned to our design system and brand standards. I made sure our design was not only scalable, but also followed common mental models to aid the creating confidence in our users to complete the task

The Solution

The solution was a well-designed easy to use configuration for our customers. The design was consistent with the new direction that cisco.com was going and was widely considered a success. I even heard feedback from leadership that it was the nicest thing that cisco has ever created and that it reminded them of something that Apple would have created.

The front end was built with oversight and QA from our team. Unfortunately, before we could launch, the offer for Cisco+ was killed to focus on other offers.
